Don’t Judge Me, Monkey

Please, please, please, please, please can we stop with the gotcha Have You Ever Smoked Pot question to our elected officials? Unless they’re caught driving (very slowly) backwards the wrong way down a one-way street, trying to flee the Wendy’s drive-through window without paying, the question is not germane. We don’t care, it seems, about something a majority of the public views as a personal choice, made quietly by adults, pretty much akin in acceptance to drinking. Illegal, for sure, but hardly a hangin’ offence these days.

facepalm

So when a press shy mayor with much, much bigger questions hanging over his administration actually stops to interact with the City Hall press corps, Have You Ever Smoked Pot is not the first thing he should be asked. It simply misdirects focus from where it should be. His job performance. That benefits no one except the mayor himself.

It’s an easy story. Do better, members of the press. For the city’s sake.

  1. The folks at AFUITBS have finished with the easy stories? What about being all-seeing and predictions – will there still be any of that? You know, municipal politics like it really matters – the stupid stuff that gets Ford Nation all shaking in their rubber galoshes.

    • Law and Order Conservatives made hay of Trudeau smoking pot last week but when it’s Ford different comment train. He smoked “a lot” which could explain why he got the munchies a lot…(smile)

  2. You realize that admission will completely negate any findings about the crack allegations that may come out from Project Traveler. Wasn’t crack it was pot. Well played.

      • Glenn, why must you name call? I have never called you a name, besides Glenn.

    • And you don’t smoke pot by heating the bowl of the pipe. Totally different motion. This argument has been tried before.

      • Has everyone here seen the video first hand? All of the Star Reports still use some pretty tender legal language around the video. “alleged” “appears to be” “looks like”

  3. In Ford’s speech to the Cambridge Club(whoever they are) he was boasting about saving $80 million on garbage. Except he only privatized garbage pickup in 1 section of 4 in the City. Plus the deal is for $78 million over 7 years. Even after just a year of contracting out it is not near $11 million because the private GFL could not deal with the pickup load post July 8 rain and flooding and needed help from 30-40 CUPE trucks…
