Magical Mystery Municipal Government Tour

sweeps

It’s April.

Sweeps month, as they used to say in the television business.

Time to bring out the big broadcast guns. Your events. No, wait. Events, with a capital ‘e’.

Draw in the audience. Put bums in the seats. Eyeballs on the screen.

Shark Week! Guest star: Sean Penn! When Baggage Handlers Go Bad! Shark Week, again.

Anything and everything in order to inflate the audience numbers and impress the advertisers.

So today, here at All Fired Up in the Big Smoke, we’re bringing you our own version of sweeps. Must Read Blogging! Perhaps with a guest poster or two although I wouldn’t really count on it. Seriously. Don’t count on it. You’ll be sadly disappointed.

Our gimmick?

Inside the Committees!

An in-depth look at the city’s standing committees. What are they? What do they do? Where are they? (Honest question. How the hell do I find the Etobicoke-York Community Council?) Who are the players?

We’ll spend the days hanging around committee meetings, get a pulse on them, and then report back to you with some hard-hitting facts, figures and observations. You will be enlightened. You will be entertained.

And best of all, they’ll probably be nothing whatsoever about the mayor. I mean, aren’t you getting as bored hearing about that guy as we are writing about him? Let’s move on. See how the city really functions.

So come with us. Let’s see just what dark secrets and spooky shenanigans we uncover as we go… Completely Committee!

Great! Maybe you’ll take a closer look at how poorly a bunch of leftie councillors treated Affordable Housing in my ‘hood?

I mean, I have the facts, all you’d need to do is comment.

  2. Sonny says:

Gullable voters thought Ford was going to get rid of abuses in Public Housing. A mere 5 were evicted last year from TCHC and their repair backlog has grown from about $350 million to NOW over $750 million

P.S. Penachetti did not recommend a casino just conditions…
